STREET SPIRITS is a non-profit association risen from the common idea its founders had of giving the International Cooperation for Development and financed projects a new image and approach regarding the communication they generate.
The main tools used by the Association play on the culture and creativity of the people. Both act as real means of communication, supporting the different messages of the existing cultures in the context within which we operate (painting, music, graphic arts, digital arts, photography, short films, documentaries, films, theatre performances, sustainable architecture).
As opposed to the standard communication usually present in the world of international cooperation, our different approach wishes to return “dignity” to the voice of these countries, trying to highlight not only the death and suffering which often identify third-world nations but also to bring out that “little bit more” necessary to make the dream come true in terms of reaching acceptable standards of life in these countries.
The language used is directed by the life of the people and maintains an independence from the traditional western view that would often establish pitiful levels of acceptability.
The projects are carried out by different people as part of coordinated teamwork (an innovative aspect of the Association) and have the advantage of being supported by a web structure that puts in touch all the artists of the world who wish to take part in the activities, with a simple click.
The cooperation therefore is no longer only a one-way donation but a user-friendly interactivity allowing everyone to communicate from their own home.
The web site is structured so as to respect world standards of usability and accessibility and guarantee easy access even in technologically under-developed areas (with old PCs and slow Internet connection).
The website, along with the on-site activities, will allow total transparency regarding the management and continuous monitoring of international cooperation projects. The association collaborates with partners established in various countries (International and Local Non-Governmental Organizations) for the identification and analysis of the social context in which it operates and the technical development of the financed projects.
The Association’s web platform will be in continuous evolution (regarding the graphic design, materials and comments) and the information will be collected steadily together with the partners in the local realities around the world where we operate.
